The Breakfast Club

is amazing... I have loved her in each of the  movies I have seen her in and this one is no exception. The concept of this movie is wonderful. A brain, an athlete, a princess, a basket-case and a criminal; serving detention together. You would say they have nothing in common, so very different from each other, but each with his own sufferings, own stories, and own talents.
Some of the incidents, specially those concerning the teacher are somewhat over-the-top but that completely makes up for what the movie is trying to achieve. The five completely different personalities, trying to get along, quarreling about what they think is right, getting into fights but sticking together against the teacher.
has done a great job. Though I would have preferred if  she wasn't made pretty in the end. That kind of goes against her personality.
The movie is a must-see. Some hilarious scenes, some heart-wrenching moments and a talented star-cast. I would have given it a perfect score if not for the two kisses in the end. One (any one would have been okay but to commence two relationships is a little too much.

RITU

So this is a love triangle. A guy and two girls. The two girls are the best of friends and opposite in every way. One is a good, kind, caring, studious type, the other is a hot, narcissistic, impulsive, manipulative kind. The guy swings back and forth between the girls and there are no prizes for guessing whom he ends up with. That is pretty much the whole story.

The shortcomings... I don't even know from where to begin. The director has tried the flashback/flashforward approach which is new for a Nepali movie (I think) but it just gets annoying at times and spoils the flow. The lead actress, the protagonist, is too dull, her dialogue delivery too bland. The lines she speaks in English are far better than the ones she can do in Nepali. She does get better in the few scenes towards the end or maybe you just get used to her blandness.  The character of the actor is so weak and emotional that anyone can easily get irritated. Only Jude Law can cry in just about any situation and still keep it appealing. With The lines she speaks in English are far better than the ones she can do in Nepali. it soon got appalling. We laughed when he got emotional and not in a good way! He was a big letdown, specially considering that the only reason I watched this movie is because I liked him in Apabad.

was the best thing about the movie. Hot, confident and a wonderful actress; she portrays her character well. My only complaint is that we did not get to see more of her! The other characters are not worth mentioning. Though the uncredited cab driver is more likable in his 5 minutes of screen appearance than the lead actor is! The back stories are inconsistent and totally irrelevant and so is majority of the scenes and dialogues.

The scenes are beautiful, Australia is captured beautifully. This may be the only reason unorthodox viewers would opt for this movie. As for the mainstream viewers, this movie has some kind of newness in the star cast, filming location and presentation style. There is no newness in the story. And why are the lead characters not more sad after losing their unborn baby! Yes they got a happy ending and all but come on, a few tears would be good. The guy crying in every other situation cannot shed a few tears for his baby!

All in all, I went in a die-hard fan of , somewhere in the middle of the movie I stopped liked him. At least I ended up watching the whole movie. I'd rate it 2.5 out of 5. the extra .5 for

Daria

I love her. I love her sarcasm, her use of irony in just about anything. I love her don't-give-a-damn attitude. I love that her smile is so rare it is precious. I love everything about her. People might call her dysfunctional but what the hell do thay know. At least she does not have deep-rooted insecurities, proved that time some shrink tried to hypnotize her. I love that she is normal enough to have a best friend, though that may have something to do with the fact that Jane is equally cynical. Daria is super smart, aces at almost all the tests and is even normal enough to fall for a guy or two. She has a conscience sometimes, like the time she could not leave that lost kid alone in that parade. She obviously cares about her family even Quinn.

Once Upon a Time

Why do I even bother with this nonsense! Every season, in fact, every episode is most ridiculous than the previous and it just never ends! But here I am watching it, waiting for the next episode to come out. The only reason I started watching it in the first place was because of Emma ((I liked Zoey in HIMYM). She has to be the main protagonist. It makes me a little angry not seeing her name in the first credits.
Let me start by ranting about Snow. is a pretty good actress. But I hated the character of Snow White. I get her not wanting to turn dark and all but wanting to forgive Regina, stopping her execution and actually trying to change her after everything has to be the stupidest thing anyone can ever do. Serves her right then suffering after the curse and all. Her hair, I hate her hair in Storybrooke. Snow fighting dark, Snow fighting everything! It cannot get more annoying. Sometimes I don't blame Regina. Why doesn't it ever grow? She is not both Rapunzel and Snow White is she!
And what I can say about Prince Charming. Even the name makes me so mad. And he is not good-looking either. And such a pushover. Snow has him wrapped around her little finger. There is nothing charming around a guy who cannot stand up to himself and is pretty much incapable of getting angry.

Reconstructing Amelia (Book review)

I need to read books like 'Reconstructing Amelia' to remind myself why I read Classics and Fantasy book, and need to stick with them. I had really high hopes for this book, first there was this whole awesome story-line. A single mother trying to figure out the death (ruled out as suicide) of her teenage daughter. I though this would be heart-wrenching and maybe this book would actually make me cry, plus who does not love a good murder mystery. red herrings. Spoilers ahead!
So much expectation, so much disappointment. It did keep me going until the very end, i will give it that. Though that was probably because I wanted to know what possible explanation could there be for Amelia's death after coming across tens and thousands of red herrings.

An affair to remember

This Valentines Day I watched 'an affair to remember'. Last year I had spent the day watching South Park so this is a huge upgrade. Well my original plan was a Klaroline marathon, to watch all the scenes of Klaus and Caroline together. 'So you’ve never felt the attraction that comes when someone who’s capable of doing terrible things for some reason cares only about you?' This pretty much sums them up. But unfortunately as I had somewhat overestimated my internet download speed I was left with incomplete episodes. So instead of brooding over it, I decided to watch this movie instead. Major spoilers ahead...

Losing my Temper

Someone once said that before you diagnose yourself of depression, make sure the people around you are not complete morons. I am not self-diagnosing myself and I sure am not depressed but I am so freaking mad all the time now. And I guess diagnosing yourself of depression or simply realizing you are very low on patience and high on temper is pretty much the same thing, the bottom line being, 'Before you blame yourself take a long hard look at the idiots around you'
Before I get to the rest of the story let me give you a little background to this month. February, the season of love. I hate it. It has nothing to do with love, though. I kept a diary when I was small. Well not too small, from classes 5 to 8, I guess. I was not a regular writer. Generally I wrote when I found something to complain about. I eventually found a pattern for the unfortunate events, more like major or minor annoyance, that happened to me- Thursday, 23rd and the whole of February, being the self proclaimed psychologist that I am. I get that this may have pretty much been a self-fulfilling prophecy sort of thing, where panicking about something happening causes so much distraction to one that something unfortunate surely happen. Or maybe I took no notice of it the rest of the days and concentrated on finding faults on the aforementioned dates and days. Anyways, February sucks and the universe tries finding new ways to make me miserable in this month. I don't remember what happened the last year or the several years before that since I no longer kept up with keeping a diary but I remember feeling miserable then, possibly for some insignificant reason if I even remember one now but that mattered then and this series of unnecessary annoying things happening to me matter now.
