Daria

I love her. I love her sarcasm, her use of irony in just about anything. I love her don't-give-a-damn attitude. I love that her smile is so rare it is precious. I love everything about her. People might call her dysfunctional but what the hell do thay know. At least she does not have deep-rooted insecurities, proved that time some shrink tried to hypnotize her. I love that she is normal enough to have a best friend, though that may have something to do with the fact that Jane is equally cynical. Daria is super smart, aces at almost all the tests and is even normal enough to fall for a guy or two. She has a conscience sometimes, like the time she could not leave that lost kid alone in that parade. She obviously cares about her family even Quinn.

And I love this show, obviously. All the characters are likable, well, dysfunctional in some way or the other but I love how this show has somebody to relate to for everybody. The bimbo cheerleader, the dumb athlete, the smart athlete, the smart girl who fights or tries to fight for social causes, the wacky flirt everybody tries to avoid. Even the teachers are of all kinds- the kind one, the cynical one, the one who 'hates men' and of course the publicity-crazy principal.
Her dad Jake has to be the most dysfunctional characters of all, with deep-rooted daddy issues and a hyperactive personality. Her mom is like a supermom, and quite amusing, balancing a high post job while taking care of the dysfunctional family. She is not shallow like Quinn. While many people might find her unlikable, I am quite fond of her. The fashion club is fun. Specially Sandy. She is a whole different story. At least she is smart.
So I had watched the first seasons seasons a coupe of years ago and am currently in the fourth season. I used to ship Trent and Daria, I still do in a way. But I also like what they are doing with Jane-Tom-Daria. Can't wait to go home and continue the Daria marathon.
